Special Interest Groups

Audio Visual SIG

The A/V SIG meets on an occasional basis at members’ homes.
We put together pictures and music to produce slideshows to showcase SLPS members’ competition entries as well as producing entries for various A/V competitions held around the country.

Help and support given from beginner to expert.

The coordinator is Laurie Smith.

Improving Images SIG

This group is for anyone who wants to discuss their images in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.
The group has members of all abilities and interests and we welcome all. Its concept was to “provide a challenging forum for image improvement from camera technique through to image post processing”.

We are limited to 10 members initially due to space and venue considerations.

The normal format of the evening will be:
8.00pm quick introduction and resume of the last meeting.
A look at images members have posted.
Peer assessment and discussion.
9.00 break for tea and coffee.
9.15 – 10.00 Continue as before or general discussion or specific training issue identified.

The coordinator is Peter Grimes.

Nature & Macro SIG

The Nature & Macro SIG aims to encourage and enable club members to improve their close-up photography skills – not only insects and plants, but a wide range of other subjects – jewellery, specific facial features such as eyes and portraiture. The Group meets approximately every other month, members taking along 4 or 5 images on a USB stick and sharing them.

The group has a couple of more experienced photographers, but several club members are just starting out using their MACRO lens, so all levels of expertise are welcome.

The coordinator is Susan Grimes.
