About us

The South London Photographic Society (known affectionately as SLPS) was founded in 1889, and is one of the oldest photographic societies in the country.

But don’t be put off by our grand name – ‘photographic society’ is just a posh name for camera club.

We are a small, friendly group of amateur photographers who meet together regularly on an informal basis.

We meet on Monday evenings at 8pm on the ground floor of:

If you arrive late and the door is locked, please ring the bell TWICE

Car parking
There is plenty of parking available in adjacent streets

Local stations at Forest Hill, Penge East, Catford, Catford Bridge and Lewisham (DLR)

75 from Sydenham, Catford and Lewisham, or
356 from Forest Hill station

Disabled Access
There is easy disabled access to the hall via a ramp

Critique Nights

You can show your photos and see other members snaps too. The group can then discuss ways of improving your images, offering constructive feedback and praise, Itʼs super fun!

Skill Workshops

Our workshops are like a playground for learning cool photo tricks! We teach you neat stuff in a snap. Itʼs easy, and youʼll leave feeling like a photo wizard!

Friendly Competitions

We have fun competitions where you can show off your best shots. Donʼt worry, itʼs all friendly and fun. You might even win a trophy, but everyone gets cheers!
